P Narayana, will order a high-level probe into construction of Summer Storage Tank
Nellore: Minister for municipal administration, Dr P. Narayana, said that he will order a high-level probe into serious irregularities in the construction of Summer Storage Tank after inspecting the tank here on Tuesday.He assured to take up repairs on a permanent scale to the SST and provide water to all the houses under the Nellore Municipal Corporation limits.
The minister inspected the SST along with the mayor Abdul Azeez, municipal commissioner Chakradharbabu, munici-pal engineer-in-chief (public health), Dr Panduranga Rao, and other officials.
The officials had informed the minister that 600 metres out of 5.8 km long tank bund of the summer storage tank was damaged and there is need to reconstruct the bund to protect the tank.The minister had ordered the municipal officials to submit a report on the status of the bund within 10 days. He told them to focus on the bund strength if 0.3 tmc of water is stored in the tank.
He also sought a report from Dr Panduranga Rao, chief engineer of engineering department. The minister observed that the quality of the water in the tank is also not up to the mark due to the coarse grass in around 450 acre in the tank. He instructed the officials to take to steps to remove the weed.
