AP CPM comrades take cue from Kerala
AP CPM is planning to reduce the use of plastic for propaganda
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Taking a cue from Kerala, the newly formed state committee of Andhra Pradesh CPM is planning to reduce the use of plastic for propaganda for the 21st Party Congress to be held in Vishakhapatnam in 2015.
Andhra Pradesh CPM state secretary and former MP P Madhu, when asked about the initiative taken by Kerala CPM on shedding flex boards, said the state unit would try its best to reduce the use of plastic in propaganda material including banners, flags and festoons.
“Though it is too early to speak about the preparations for the Congress, we have always tried to minimise the use of plastic material in our conferences. Even this time we will try to do so,’’ he added.
The CPM leader said the forthcoming party Congress would be historic in all sense.
Though the CPM Kerala unit had discarded flex boards during the state conference held in Kottayam in 2008, it turned to the material after most political parties used it extensively during 2011 elections. Later the party used flex boards widely during the 20th party Congress at Kozhikode in April 2012. By reducing the use of plastic and flex boards, the party now clearly wants to send out a message to the people that it was concerned about environment issues.
