Suspense over board posts over today?

Both the leaders had met once at a private hotel last month but nothing concrete emerged

Bengaluru: The much-delayed appointment of heads for state-owned boards and corporations could well come through soon as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar are likely to finalize the names of their party colleagues for these posts on Tuesday.

Sources said their meeting was originally scheduled for Monday evening, but with Dr Parameshwar away on tour the two leaders are likely to meet Tuesday evening. If they arrive at a consensus, several ministerial aspirants are likely to make it to these posts along with senior party workers, the sources said adding that the leaders, however, are unlikely to discuss the other contentious issue—expansion of the cabinet.

According to a formula recommended by central leaders, senior workers would garner a lion’s share or 70 per cent of posts while the rest would be occupied by legislators. Evidently, Dr. Parameshwar and Mr. Siddaramaiah have agreed to appoint chairpersons and members to all these boards and corporations. In all probability, chairpersons would be appointed to at least 30 of these organizations, the sources added.

Both the leaders had met once at a private hotel last month but nothing concrete emerged.

Sources, expressed confidence that Tuesday’s meeting would be very fruitful “because both parties have shortlisted names. When they meet, they will exchange the lists and try to arrive at a consensus on selection of party workers and legislators for the posts. We guess that some names figures in lists of both Dr Parameshwar and Mr. Siddaramaiah. They are likely to discuss the lists for three to four hours and arrive at a consensus,” the sources added.
