TRS woos YSR Congress, Telugu Desam legislators

N. Chandrababu Naidu to summon his legislators to convince them not to leave the party
Hyderabad: A fresh move by the TRS to induct YSR Congress and Telugu Desam MLAs into the party on the eve of party plenary session has forced TD president and AP Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu to summon his legislators to convince them not to leave the party.
TRS top leaders, including ministers, are in touch with Opposition MLAs, particularly the vulnerable TD and YSRC in the state, asking them to switch over sides in order to develop the constituencies they represent.
They have reportedly been wooing them with sops like offering funds for major developmental works besides assuring to looking into some of their personal problems.
The names of two YSR Congress MLAs from Khammam district T. Venkateswarlu and S. Venkate-swarlu, TD legislators fr-om GHMC area Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, Teegala Krishna Reddy, Manchi-reddy Kishen Reddy and T. Prakash Gowd are being heard.
The latest buzz is six MLAs have reportedly promised TRS leaders of switching sides either before the TRS plenary or during the plenary session on October 11 and 12.
“It is up to them, when they want to join, but we have been getting positive signals from few MLAs who wish to join us,” one of the TRS ministers told this correspondent on condition of anonymity.
In fact, they have been reports in the media for the past one week about these legislators trying to join the TRS with a hope of getting more funds for their constituency for development as well as to get rid of the negative image their parties carry on the Telangana issue.
Both the parties are being accused of sub serving the interests of their party presidents who belong to Seemandhra. When contacted, Ibrahimpatnam Telugu Desam MLA Manchireddy Kishen Reddy on Monday said, “I have not taken any decision so far.”
The other three TD MLAs were not available for comment. Sensing fresh trouble for the party, which has already lost few MLCs to TRS recently, Mr Naidu on Monday summoned Telangana legislators and tried to convince them against leaving the party.
He told them they should not succumb to the pressures of the TRS leadership. The attempts are meant to create an opinion that TD will not sustain itself in Telangana. Mr Naidu also told them that the TRS will not sustain its Telangana sentiment forever and people have already turned critical on the functioning of the TRS government for the past few months particularly on the agricultural front.
