MET predicts cyclone by 10th October
Hyderabad: Most parts of Hyderabad received some rain on Monday and more can be expected on Tuesday owing to a well-marked low-pressure zone over Vidharbha, Maharashtra.
The city which had been witnessing March-like conditions cooled a bit by noon, thanks to overcast skies and traces of rain. While this spell of rain will not last long, there is a storm brewing in the Bay of Bengal that could cause more rain in Telangana and AP.
The Bay would probably witness the first cyclonic system of the year because of an upper air cyclonic circulation near the North Andaman sea.
The system is located between Andaman and Malaysia, and would probably strengthen into a depression in the next 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department forecast that it would concentrate into a depression on Tuesday and intensify into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday.
Prof S.S.V.S. Ramakrishna, department of meteorology and oceanography, Andhra University, said the cloud mass indicates that it would intensify into a cyclone, but it is too early to predict its path.
If an upper air cyclonic circulation system located close to the North Andaman Sea gets strengthened, it would impact the east coast after October 10, according to experts. Majority areas located in AP, TS would receive heavy rainfall.
