Centre calls meeting on clean Ganga

The meeting would discuss how to control waste discharge in the river from industries

NEW DELHI: With the waste released by Grossly Polluting Industries along Ganga being a major source of pollution in the river, the Union Government has called a meeting of these industries and experts involved in the sector to find ways to abate the pollution generated by them.

The meeting to be held in the national capital on Wednesday comes close on the heels of the Centre deciding to install real-time effluent quality monitoring systems by grossly polluting industries located in the river basin and development of a road map for achieving zero liquid discharge from the polluting industries into the holy river.

Wednesday’s meeting being organised by the water resources and Ganga rejuvenation ministry would discuss the ways and means to control the discharge of waste from these industries, which pollute the river to a large extent.
