Around 400 Flex boards taken out in Kochi city
More than 50 big display boards, including those erected by political parties and religious organisations, were taken out
KOCHI: The city corporation’s special squads started removing the flex boards erected at public places and roadsides from Monday in the wake of the state government’s ban.
More than 400 flex boards put up along Shanmugham Road, Banerjee Road, Chittoor Road and MG Road were removed by the squad. More than 50 big display boards, including those erected by political parties and religious organisations, were taken out.
Mayor Tony Chammany urged political parties and other organisations to cooperate with the drive and not to erect flex boards and other publicity materials along roadsides and on medians which would visually pollute the city. The Mayor will formally write to the leaders of parties and religious and cultural organisations in this regard.
Strict action will be taken against those who do not comply with the directive and the drive will continue in the coming days, said the Mayor.
