Celebrity husbands fasting on Karva Chauth explain what the #fastforher campaign is all about

Hyderabad: Women across the country are gearing up for Karva Chauth on October 11, but it won’t be only them who will be fasting this year. This time around, many husbands will be fasting as well, at least that’s what the “fastforher” campaign aims to do. Short on the heels of Hrithik’s Bang Bang challenge, the #fastforher campaign is trending online.
The campaign is the brainchild of CEO of Shaadi.com, Anupam Mittal, and aims to promote equality in marriages. Even TV actors Hiten Tejwani, Varun Badola, Jay Bhanu-shali, singer Salim, writer Chetan Bhagat and actor Nani from Tolly-wood have taken up the challenge.
This initiative is meant for those who want to fast along with their wives to show how much they mean to them. And, at the end of the day on Karva Chauth, it is the wives who will help them break their fast.
TV star Hiten Tejwani, one of the first people who took up the challenge, laughs, “I’m a true Punjabi. Do you know how much we love our food? But, as a token of appreciation towards my wife Gauri Pradhan, I decided to take up the challenge.”
Hiten’s wife has been fasting for him ever since they were married. When asked how she reacted to the news, he says, “She didn’t believe me first. But I think this is the best gift I can give her”.
While everyone is busy gearing up for fasting, the Meet brothers, Manmeet and Harmeet, who are married to Karishma and Sunaina Singh respectively, have also taken up the challenge, and even composed a song to thank their wives for all that they have done.
“I fasted during the first two years of my marriage and I’ve been married for 12 years now,” laughs Manmeet, adding, “It’s been quite some time now, but everyone should do things that make their wives feel special, this is my way.”
While most of the stars are doing it to prove their love for their wives, TV star Varun Badola is doing it more for himself. “I’ve never fasted for myself, let alone for my wife, (actress Rajeshwari Sachdev) so this time, I thought I should take this up.”
As part of the challenge, the actors are supposed to nominate others. Hiten had nominated Yash Tonk, Karan Mehra and Karan Patel. Varun has nominated friends Sohail Khan, Shabbir Ahluwalia and Anupam Bhattacharya.
