I wore shoes during puja? My foot! - CM Siddaramaiah in anger

Some TV channels had telecast news claiming CM wore shoes and offered flowers

Mysore: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed anger and displeasure over a section of the electronic media for showing him in bad light and misleading people. A few channels on Saturday evening has telecast news saying Mr Siddaramaiah wore shoes and offered flowers to Goddess Chamundeshwari during the Jumbo Savari, which was watched by lakhs of people, hurting religious sentiments.

However, the news was later proved to be far from the truth. The CM’s office issued a press release attached with photographic evidence to show that Mr Siddaramaiah was wearing black shoes while sitting in the VVIP gallery with other invitees and dignitaries. When he offered flowers to the goddess he was seen wearing ankle high white socks, which was reportedly mistaken by the news channels for shoes.

“It is sad that TV news channels without verifying the facts have telecast news, which not only misleads people but also bring a bad name to the State. I have high regard for traditions and Goddess Chamundeshwari. I have never hurt any religion sentiments and won’t in future”, Mr. Siddarmaiah said clarifying on the issue.

"I wore Black shoes & ankle length White socks for Dasara Utsava. Truth is in these pics. #FalseMediaReports" Mr Siddaramaiah tweeted responding to the controversy.
