Water board digitises to recover loss
The board looks at more than 1000% increase in its revenue inflow in the coming months
Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), which has been on the spree of streamlining it consumer data base in last few months looks at more than 1000 per cent increase in its revenue inflow in the coming months.
The fund-starved cantonment board, few months ago was not in a position to crack whip on defaulters in neither property tax cases nor the defaulting water consumers. But, now with issuing house numbers after a detailed survey, issuing unique consumer number (UCN) and digitizing the entire consumer data base, it is going to be a straight line for the authorities to toe and collect the due amount. Over 60,000 water connections data base have already been digitized after issuing UCN.
The consumer database streamlining act has already started showing results. The SCB which is used get revenue of Rs 6-7 crore month after much voluntary work, has witnessed a Rs 30 crore revenue in the month of September.
SCB Chief Executive Officer, Sujatha Gupta said, “What board(SCB) have been receiving towards revenue for so many years is very meager and not even 10 per cent of actual due amount. At least Rs 100 crore is the actual revenue generation of the SCB if the due amount is to be collected. However, the streamlining of data base would help us reach the target.”
