Vijayawada: A pall of gloom descended in the office of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, after the news came that one of the senior staff was killed in an accident on Sunday.
The municipal employees were shocked to learn the death of their colleague, T. Ramgopal, assistant commissioner for Circle I.
Ramgopal was on Sunday morning heading towards Vijayawada from Guntur in a car. After it reached Kolanukonda village near Tadepalli, the car hit a road divider leaving Ramgopal dead on the spot due to the severe injuries. The driver of the ill-fated car sustained injuries.
Ramgopal was a senior and well respected employee in the corporation.
His body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to his family.
Tadepalli police registered a case and is investigating.
