Manager was allegedly buying milk as part of the racket and selling it to the public

Chennai: The CB-CID investigators, probing the multi-crore Aavin milk rip-off, arrested one more man taking the total number of arrested persons to 12. “We arrested Arjun, 52, of Tiruvallur on Saturday,” CB-CID sources said. A manager of a private dairy, Arjun was allegedly buying milk as part of the racket and selling it to the public.

Sources in the investigation team added that at least eight general managers of Aavin unions were questioned by the probe team during the last couple of days. The CB-CID team had arrested N. Vaidyanathan, a former AIADMK man, believed to be the kingpin of the racket, two weeks back.

His two firms were running more than 100 milk tankers for Aavin for the last 10 years and he is believed to have managed to steal milk worth crores of rupees from these tankers during the same period, thus amassing wealth.
