Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi kicks off ‘Clean Assam’ mission
Guwahati: After initial dilemma, Assam CM Tarun Gogoi on Sunday joined the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of PM Narendra Modi.
Clarifying that it was the initiative of his government that he launched two years back in Assam, said Mr Gogoi.
He launched ‘clean Guwahati’, campaign in 2012 but it could not sustain.
Mr Gogoi who wielded the broom to launch an extensive clean Assam campaign in Guwahati, said, “The government would take up the cleanliness drive in a mission mode across the nook and corner of the state.
He recalled, “We had launched clean Guwahati campaign in February 2012 but could not continue for a long. But this time the cleanliness drive will be a continuous process in Guwahati and other parts of the state.”
He said, “As we take proper care of our body, wear clean clothes, so also we must keep our surroundings clean.”
Appreciating the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Prime Minister, Mr Gogoi said, “We support any good cause and our government with the help of public organisations, NGOs, puja mandaps and individuals would make an all-out endeavor to keep the surroundings of the Assam clean and work towards a green environment.”
