Monsoon vagaries haunt Andhra Pradesh, Telangana

East Godavari, Krishna and Prakasam districts were the major victims of monsoon vagaries this time

Visakhapatnam: Withdrawal phase of southwest monsoon has turned out to be a nature’s curse for entire Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with increased temperature and sultriness due to scanty rainfall.

Many districts in both the states have been experiencing mercury levels between 34-36 degrees for the last one week.

It may be recalled that Southwest Monsoon has started withdrawing from various parts of the country, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and conditions are also favourable for withdrawal from remaining parts of northwest India and some more parts of central India during next 3­4 days, according to IMD.

Now, monsoon is active over Kerala and Karnataka.

Still, Andhra Pradesh state has received a deficit rainfall of 29 pc; coastal AP and Rayalaseema regions with 23 pc; and Telangana region with 34 pc up to September 30.

In Andhra Pradesh, East Godavari, Krishna and Prakasam districts were the major victims of monsoon vagaries this time.

East Godavari has a deficit of 44 pc, Krishna has 46 pc, and Prakasam district has 31 pc while Visakhapatnam district has a deficit of 13 pc up to end of September.

The monsoon is expected to withdraw around October 15 in Telangana and around November 1 in Andhra Pradesh and both the states may receive some more rainfall during the period.
