Live telecast of RSS chief on DD: DMK finds it 'inappropriate'
Chennai: Describing the RSS as a "controversial organisation based on religion", DMK on Sunday said the live telecast of its chief Mohan Bhagwat's address at Nagpur on Doordarshan was "inappropriate."
"RSS is a controversial organisation based on religion. It is inappropriate that the Doordarshan broadcast the RSS chief's speech live for an hour. Other parties have condemned it. I condemn this on the party's (DMK) behalf," DMK president
M Karunanidhi said in "questions and answers" released by his party.
A controversy broke out on October 3 over the live telecast of the speech with Congress and Left parties slamming the "misuse" of Doordarshan but BJP defended it.

Meanwhile, over 500 persons, including women and children, belonging to Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamat, today protested in front of the Doordarshan office here and shouted slogans against BJP for using the channel as a platform to telecast live Bhagwat's speech.
"Doordarshan is part of the government machinery and it cannot be used for promoting any party's ideology. Doordarshan has a legacy of being neutral and now they have lost that," Mohammad Yusuf of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamat told reporters.
The protesters held placards and also raised slogans against BJP and Doordarshan for telecasting the speech live.
