Kids erect idols in parents’ memory

At least 5-10 families in every village are following this trend
Karimnagar: Erecting statues of parents who had expired and praying for them is catching up in several villages of Chigurumamidi mandal. Many people are erecting statues of their parents, who had died, on their tombs and praying for their souls to rest in peace.Caring and remembering parents fondly is a rarity these days. But in these village of Chigurumamidi mandal, people are showing their gratitude to the sacrifices by their parents by erecting their statues on their tombs and recollecting sweet time spent with them.
At least 5-10 families in every village are following this trend, though it is a bit costly.Vantakala Kishan Reddy, a software engineer from Chigurumamidi, said he had got his late father’s statue installed to make his goodness known to the future generations of their family.
“My father had worked very hard to provide me with education and other facilities. Now, I am working with a US-based firm. I want to make his sacrifices known to my sons and grandsons and so erected the statue,” he explained. “The statue will help us remember him whenever we see or pass by it,” he added.
Relatives of Janga Rajeswari, Andebakkolu Bhumaiah and Ande Agavva, who had installed statues of the trio on the outskirts of the village, said they had taken up the initiative to remember them forever for their goodness. “The statue, whenever I see it, makes me feel good,” said Janga Rajeswari’s daughter.
