K Chandrashekhar Rao to visit Jodeghat on October 8

Chief minister to lay foundation stone to build memorial in memory of Komaram Bheem
Adilabad: A team of officials, led by A. Ramalaxman, advisor to the state government for welfare, visited the interior village of Jodeghat in Kerameri mandal and inspected the arrangements for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to the place slated for October 8 when he would attend legendary tribal leader Komaram Bheems’s 74th death anniversary programme.
The officials inspected the place identified for the helipad, dais and arrangements made for public. The approach road to the venue at Jodeghat is being repaired to ensure smooth flow of VIP convoys.
The intelligence sleuths and Chief Minister’s security officials are busy making bandobust arrangements for the visit.
The team of officials who visited Jodeghat include A.Ramalaxman, collector M. Jagan Mohan, ITDA, Utnoor, project officer Prashanth Patil, Utnoor RDO Ramchandraiah, Bellampalli DSP Suribabu. They visited the place where the tribal leader and 15 of his associates died fighting with the Nizam forces for tribal’s right on forest, land and water in 12 villages on September 1, 1940.
The chief ministers’ visit to Jodeghat assumes importance in the wake of reports on Naxals moving in the area and police claiming that they had exchanged fire with them twice in the forest of Kasipet and Tiryani mandals recently. It is learnt that the chief minister would lay foundation stone to a memorial to be built in memory of Komaram Bheem and also some development works to be taken up in the 12 hamlets, including Jodeghat.
It is likely that the chief minister might also make an announcement on Jodeghat being upgraded as a gram panchayat with 12 tribal hamlets in its purview, a long-pending demand of tribals. Mr Chandrasekhar Rao might also rename Adilabad district after Komram Bheem and also reveal an action plan for the development of Jodeghat as a tourist spot. It is expected that the chief minister might also give a government job to one of the relatives of Komaram Bheem, at the programme.
