'X Factor' led to nervous breakdown in 2011: Cheryl
London: Former 'Girls Aloud' star Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, who is back on 'X Factor' as a judge, says her last stint on the reality singing show emotionally drained her.
Cheryl, 31, previously judged the UK version of the show in 2008 and then appeared on its US version in 2011, reported the Daily Star. "I just wasn't taking notice and I should have listened sooner to the signals just to slow down. I got sick and instead of taking the time off I was like 'No, no, I am going back to work' and within six to eight weeks I was back on X Factor."
"I wasn't fully recovered and then I was agreeing to go to America and before I knew it I was out of my mind and I was jaded. I've been very open about saying I had a nervous breakdown. It will never happen again though. It was years of build-up and I needed a release and that year and a half or two years break was it," Cheryl said.
The comebacks of Cheryl and Simon Cowell, 54, have been the show's talking point this year after their public fallout in 2011.
