With $100 Android smartphones in the market catering to budget users, Microsoft seems to want a big chunk of the pie too.
Google’s Android One project, the $100 (Rs 6,000) phone for the masses, could be trampled massively by Microsoft if the latter’s project sees light of day.
Microsoft is planning big—a $50 smartphone, to capture the budget smartphone user market, where presently the Android smartphones are ruling.
The cheapest Android smartphones are presently available for as low as Rs 3,000. However, they are either outdated or below average hardware and promise no support for the operating system upgrade.
Android One is the only cheapest smartphone by a tech giant and well-known brand—Google. The brand promises to keep the Android One operating system updated to the latest version for at least two years.
However, with Microsoft also jumping into the bandwagon of budget smartphones from the market and after acquiring Nokia, the smartphone hardware company, it does not seem like they will give up.
The two Indian techies seem to be locking horns for the bigger piece of the pie. However, only time will pronounce the winner after Microsoft’s project sees the light of day.
