Henna Jayanth shows her true colours
Sheer curiosity made Henna Jayanth try her hand at facing the camera. Her first two roles were too miniscule for her to really understand the medium. But all that is about to change with her upcoming film Raag Rangeela where she plays the lead. For the Gujarati girl, born and brought up in Calicut, music has been an integral part of her life since her mother is a good singer. This ear for music will stand her in good stead in Raag Rangeela which is a musical with a lot of importance to songs. Henna has been a part of the film Alice as well as Munarriyuppu but in blink and miss appearances.
She says, “Initially acting was not something I took seriously but decided to do just to satisfy my curiosity. But I find the process of filmmaking magical. I want to experience the entire technical process, of what goes into the making of a film, and the final result on screen.” In the film, Henna plays the role of a fan of a music director with a motive of her own. Henna admits to a thirst for learning and attempting diverse roles. She quips, “It is when you embark on something new that you realise where your strengths are. I got a chance to give wings to my passion of acting and I am trying my hand at that too.”
Henna has modeled for a well known brand and was a part of the Happy Music video. She quips, “If you see me in real life you would not recognise me; I am mostly dressed in rags!” Henna is a girl who reveals that though she is a North Indian, she is more a Malayali than a Gujarati and very fluent in Malayalam. She is a self-taught Western and Bollywood dancer and loves travelling. Acting is a passion that Henna is testing. But she is a businesswoman having her own HR firm in Kozhikode. Talking of her role as an entrepreneur, she says, “I have a Bachelor’s degree in BBM and a Masters in HR from UK. Our firm is involved in building a new product and I am very involved with that process too!”
