Nellore: Residents of Vengalarao Nagar in the city surprised when the urban development minister, Dr P. Narayana, and other political leaders as well as officials cleaned their roads for nearly three hours.
They were amused when all the VIPs and officials found paying attention to clean a particular drain instead of dividing the work. However, they understood the reason when they noticed the lens men and cameraman of electronic channels covering the activity.
Dr Narayana launched Swachh Andhra, Janmabhoomi and Sujala Sravanti programmes in different parts of Nellore and outskirts of the city. Staff in all most all the government offices cleaned their place of work as part of Swachh Bharat in Nellore.
Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy took part in the Swachh Bharat programme held at the railway station here on Thursday. The MP along with YSR Congress leaders carried out cleaning activity on the premises of railway station.
He praised the Prime Minister for his ambitious programmes.The railway station, Atmakur bus stand as well as main RTC bus stand were found clean because of the care taken by the officials. However, litter was found on the premises of tahsildar office, medical and health department office as well as Jubilee Hospital near Madras Bus Stand.
