Bengaluru: The only signs of movement outside high security cell number 23 in the women’s prison in the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara are of armed security personnel and the routine duty calls made by the attending doctors, nurses and the Superintendent of Prison Divyashree.
Divyashree has been transferred from Mysore Central Prison to Bengaluru for supervising the security arrangements of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, who is lodged in the cell with her close associates and co-accused Sasikala Natarajan and Ilavarasi as prisoners number 7402, 7403 and 7404.

Ms Jayalalithaa has refused to meet any visitors in the prison.
“Whenever any request for interview comes it is sent to her by a jail official on a written slip and she has refused them all till now. She is however, cordial with the doctors, nurses and prison officials. She speaks English and Kannada fluently. She is polite and has not expressed any discomfort,” said the officer.

The former TN chief minister likes reading newspapers, which are given to her every morning, said a senior prison officer. He added that her health is good and she is strictly following the diet prescribed by the prison doctor.
