CM K Chandrasekhar Rao's cut out set on fire near Telangana Bhavan
Hyderabad: Unidentified miscreants burnt a life-size cut-out of Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao near Telangana Bhavan on Road Number 12 in Banjara Hills late on Wednesday night. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti activists, who noticed it, rushed to the spot leading to mild tension. Police also rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
At around 10 pm on Wednesday, the yet-to- be-identified miscreants burnt the cut-out and fled the spot. The locals, who noticed the fire, alerted the cops and fire department who reached the spot within minutes. Mr Rao’s supporters and party men assembled at the spot and staged a protest of arresting the culprits.
West Zone DCP V. Satyanarayana, Banjara Hills ACP Uday Kumar and Banjara Hills inspector P. Murali Krishna reached the spot and pacified the protesters, sources said. A fire tender fought the fire and put it off thereby preventing it from spreading. Sources said, a kerosene bottle, apparently used by the miscreants, was found at the spot.
Police officials suspect it could be the work of street goondas or rivals. “We suspect it could be either of them. We are also questioning party men and picking up suspects,” said K. Ravi Kumar, sub-inspector of police, Banjara Hills. “We are investigating from all possible angles,” he added.
A case was registered under Sections 427 and 447 of the IPC and being investigated. The cut-out was reportedly arranged by TRS Khairatabad in-charge M. Govardhan Reddy.
