Hyderabad: Bathukamma festivities overtook the Swachh Bharat campaign in Telangana with hardly any of the government officials or members of the public taking part in the campaign.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan though swept the bylanes in the Raj Bhavan Colony though as a token gesture while Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and other ministers didn’t have the programme on their itinerary. Most state government offices were also shut on Thursday for the holiday while officials were busy preparing for the Bathukamma gala. However, the government said that the campaign was not being ignored.
