5,000 CCTVs to keep an eye on IT corridor
Hyderabad: Surveillance along the IT corridor in Cyberabad will be stepped up with more high-resolution cameras.
Following the Surat model, over 5,000 CCTV cameras will be installed with 250-km fiber optic cables covering the entire IT corridor. Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand will submit a proposal to the government to this effect.
So far, Cyberabad police and Cyberabad Security Council have laid 49-km fiber optic cables along the IT corridor, and have installed 47 cameras. All the cameras are monitored in real time.
In Gujarat’s Surat, with financial contribution from businessmen, the government had installed thousands of cameras using fiber optic cables. “In a similar way, we will soon install cameras covering all areas. We need to raise the funds and get the government’s approval,” said Mr Anand, who added that a proposal had already been prepared.
The cameras will be connected to the command control centre for monitoring. Apart from the police cameras, Cyberabad cops will also link up the private security cameras installed in these areas.
Besides surveillance, Cyberabad police has also asked private women’s hostels to step up security measures. Hostel owners will have to soon deploy security guards, install cameras, and start visitors’ entry systems.
