Triple bonanza for devotees on day 6

Lord rides on Hanumanta vahanam, Swarna radham, Gaja vahanam on Wednesday

Tirumala: It was a triple bonanza for the visiting devotees of Lord Venkateswara with the Lord invoking his divine blessings on tens of thousands of devotees gathered in the four mada streets thrice on Thursday.

In line with the practice being followed over the years the Lord who is normally taken out on a procession twice in a day during the annual Brahmotsavam, is taken out thrice during the processions on the 6th day of annual Brahmotsavam.

After Garuda, it was the chance of Lord Hanuman to steer the Lord on his shoulders in a colourful procession on Thursday morning.

Lord Malayappa Swamy, donning the role of Lord Rama exquisitely holding the golden bow and arrow and seated atop the Hanumantha Vahana took a pleasure ride through the thoroughfares blessing the devout who were chanting Govindanamas. Immense importance is given to the Hanumantha Vahana by the devotees as Hanuman is not only considered an ardent devotee of Lord Rama but also an exponent of all Vedas.

A team of artists from a remote village in Pala-maner in Chittoor district dressed up in the le-gendary forms of Laurel and Hardy, the magical knife thrower and the wo-oden horse rider amused one and all by performing humorous acts and funny stints with their jibes and strolls.

Later in the evening, Lord Malayappa Swamy flanked by his consorts was mounted atop the newly built Swarna Rad-ham — the golden chariot and was taken out in a procession along the four mada streets.

In the night, Lord Venkateswara enthralled the devotees on the Gaja Vahanam (Elephant).
