Actor Ram Charan offers Rs 2 lakh to family of deceased fan

The victim was killed in a stampede at the ticket counter of Shiva cinema theatre

Kurnool: In a tragic incident, a youth was killed in a stampede at the ticket counter of Shiva cinema theatre when he was trying to buy a ticket for Ram Charan’s ‘Govindudu Andarivadele’ in Yemmiganur in Kurnool district on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Budagajangala Kannaiah,19, of Yemmiganur.

The actor offered his condolences to the family of the deceased, and said in a statement, “I came to know a fan in Yemmiganur (in Kurnool district) lost his life at a stampede at Siva theatre. May his soul rest in peace and my deepest condolences to his family. I'm declaring an ex gratia of Rs.2 lakh to his family.”

Sources said, a huge crowd jostled to get tickets for the morning show at the theatre to watch Ram Charan’s ‘Govindudu And-arivadele’ film. With the theatre management failed to make proper measures, Chiranjeevi fans over cro-wded at the ticket counter resulting in the stampede.

Kannaiah died on the spot with multiple injuries and respiratory problem. Several others suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Yemmiganur SI Intjiyaz Bhasha rushed to the spot and disbursed the crowd from the spot. The body of victim has been shifted to government hospital. His family members said, Kannaiah's marriage was fixed recently and scheduled in the next month.

Blaming the theatre management responsible for the death of Kannaiah, the relatives of the deceased and organisations staged a protest at theatre demanding stringent action aga-inst the theatre management for not taking steps.

precautionary measures even though they expected a heavy crowd on the eve of Dasara and also first day of releasing movie. Tense situation prevailed at the theatre as part of dharna. Budagajangala Sangam leaders B. Peddaiah, Anand and Dastagiri demanded Rs.10 lakh ex gratia for the family members of the deceased.
