Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads Clean India drive today
New Delhi: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan on Thursday, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal would be leading a clean-up drive by his party in the vicinity of the former’s official residence on Race Course road.
Mr Kejriwal, along with his party’s volunteers, will take part in the clean-up campaign at BR Camp in the Race Course road area even as Mr Modi launches the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan in the national capital.
As part of the events to mark the opening of the cleanliness mission on Thursday, the PM would also be visiting Valmiki Sadan.
Valmiki Sadan is the place where AAP had launched its party symbol, the broom.
A ground-to-air security cover on par with the Republic Day security arrangements has been put in place at Rajpath where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ and flag off a walkathon here on Thursday.
All government offices around Rajpath such as Krishi Bhavan, Rail Bhavan among others were shut today at 1 pm following which they were sanitised and sealed by Delhi Police beginning at 2 pm.
About 31 lakh Central government employees working across the country will take a pledge of cleanliness in various public functions to be organised as part of the campaign.
