Android application for women safety launched
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police has introduced a new Android application for women in the city that will help them alert the police and their relatives when in danger.
With just one click on the app called ‘Fight Back’, messages will immediately be sent to five mobile phones including the Cyberabad police.
IT Minister Mr K.T. Rama Rao said that he hoped that the app would be improved with GPS location tracker and caller ID soon.
The app was developed by Mahindra Satyam in collaboration with the Cyberabad police. Fight Back is available free on Google store and one can sign up with their email or Facebook account. “After registering, the user can add five contacts to which the danger alert will be send. Phone numbers of police, family members, and friend’s can be added. When one is in danger, they just need to open the app and press the alert button. In five seconds, five messages will be send to the five mobile phones,” said Ms Krishnakumari, a techie from Mahindra Satyam.
Mr KTR said that by combining GPS tracker and features of the Truecaller app into the Fight Back app, the victim’s place and name could be traced. “I hope the next updated version of Fight Back will have these features,” he said, adding that the app could also connect to the command control center of the city police. which would help the police to act quickly.
