Mumbai: Even as Shahid Kapoor is basking in the positive feedback for Haider, he’s had other, and more pressing matters to attend to on the family front. As the Haider team organises screenings and other events for the film, its star is trying to ensure that his parents Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azim do not run into each other at any of them.
Sources close to the actor told us that Shahid has already shown the film to his father. Then, on Tuesday, he invited his mother and brother Ishaan (Neelima’s son from her second marriage, to actor Rajesh Khattar) for a private screening of Haider.
Not too long ago, there were rumours of a disagreement between Shahid and Neelima, and her absence from his life (in the personal and professional spheres) had been noted. At the same time, Pankaj Kapur (and his wife Supriya Pathak) had been seen as offering support to Shahid. But it now seems as though Shahid and Neelima have resolved their differences.
“Things were always fine between them. Like any family, they had a few disagreements but Shahid has always been the responsible son. He took care of his mother and brother. He might not meet them every day, but Neelima knows that Shahid is just a phone call away,” said a source close to the family.
However, the same cannot be said yet of Pankaj and Neelima’s equation: The former spouses have rarely been photographed together with Shahid at any of his events. “Not everyone has a cordial relationship with their former partners,” our source said. “But Shahid is working on it.”
