Hyderabad: Hamsa Nandini has earned a new nickname The Golden Leg of Tollywood as many of her recent films have been successful. She played a cameo in the recently-released Gopichand-starrer Loukyam.
The actress made her debut in a leading role with Anumanaspadam few years ago, but the cameo in Eega turned her career around and she became popular as an item girl.
The latest is Loukyam where she had a small role in addition to featuring in a special song. “When director Srivaas told me that I am playing Brahmanandam’s wife in the film, I was thrilled,” says Hamsa. Talking about Brahmanandam, she says, “He provides excellent comedy not only on the screen but on the sets too,” adding that lead actor Gopichand is a cool person.
Hamsa says that she is getting offers but hasn’t taken on any as she has not found them exciting enough. “I feel that a lengthy role without any prominence is better than a hugely successful item number that everybody is waiting for. That’s the reason I haven’t taken on any of the offers that I got,” she says.
Some of her hit appearances are in Eega, Mirchi, Atharintiki Daredi, Legend and now in Loukyam. “When I do these special songs, I design my own costumes,” says the actress, who hails from Pune.
Hamsa has also bagged a meaty role Gunasekhar’s Rudhramadevi where she has a lengthy role for which she had to learn sword fighting and horse riding.
