Anantapur: Civil supplies minister Paritala Sunitha and chief whip Kaluva Sreenivasulu demanded that the Centre declare drought in the district as the national disaster for the present year.
Speaking at Telugu Desam district unit committee meeting at the party office here on Tuesday, the TD representatives noted that Anantapur has been hitting with severe drought every year. The Centre should announce special package for the Rayalaseema region on the lines of Bundelkhand as most parts of Anantapur and Rayalaseema region were badly hit by drought.
Meanwhile, the civil supplies minister had also took part in the Sramadanam programme at HLC canal near Hampapuram village in Rapthadu mandal. MLAs G.Surya Narayana, Hindupur MP Nimmala Kristappa, Mayor M. Swaroopa and others accompanied her.
