Battery operated cars soon at Ernakulam South and Thrissur railway stations

Kochi: Battery Operated Cars would be pressed in to service at the Ernakulam South and Thrissur railway stations soon for the benefit of differently-abled, senior citizens and patients. “The service will be free and the needy can approach the Information counter, on board TTE or deputy Station Manger. We’re planning to deploy one each cars at the stations in two weeks time,’ said a railway Public Relations officer.

The ‘Buggie’ was launched for the first time in the state at the Thiruvananthapuram Central station on Monday. “This is part of the initiative by the Railways to involve private players to improve passenger amenities. The Battery Operated cart is sponsored by Dowins resources Pvt Ltd. The cost of procurement and operation is to be met by branding and advertisement,” the official said.
