A real estate agent slit the throat of his wife and killed her in a car

Coimbatore: A real estate agent slit the throat of his wife and killed her in a car and brought the body to the Singanallur police station on Tuesday morning. Around 3 am on Tuesday, the 35-year-old real estate broker, Santhosh Kumar, drove into the Singanallur police station with the blood-spattered body of his wife in the car.
During interrogation, Santhosh Kumar, an MBA graduate, claimed that he had murdered his wife Jaya Suhasini, 29, an IT postgraduate, as she refused to sign the divorce papers. The police said the couple had frequent quarrels as Santhosh Kumar allegedly tortured her for dowry after she delivered twin babies about four years ago.
Unable to bear his torture, she left for her parents’ house in Salem and lived there for the last three years. However, following a reconciliation, she came to her father-in-law Vasan’s house at Varadharajapuram on the outskirts of Coimbatore.
Santhosh Kumar came to Varadarajapuram, promised a happy, new life and took Jaya Suhasini and their twin children in a car to his house in Lakshmi Nagar at Thaneer Pandal in Peelamedu around 9.30 pm on Monday night.
As it was very late at night, he stopped the car at Jothi Nagar and dropped his children at a relative’s house there. Then, the couple headed for their house in Peelamedu.
Around 3 am on Tuesday, as they reached Pattanam Pudhur, near Sulur, Santhosh Kumar asked his wife to sign the divorce papers. However, Jaya Suhasini stoutly refused and an angry Santhosh Kumar pulled out a sharp knife and slit her throat. She suffered bleeding injuries in the neck and died instantly inside the car.
Then, Santhosh Kumar drove straight to the Singanallur police station, handed over the body of his wife and surrendered before the police. The police said the couple had got married about seven years ago and Jaya Suhasini delivered testtube twins after in-vitro fertilisation treatment.
Soon after the birth of the twins, Santhosh Kumar frequently tortured her for dowry, leading to their separation. Jaya Suhashini’s relatives alleged that it was case of brutal murder for dowry.
