Vigilance to probe SS tank works

YSRC members find fault with mayor for not holding polls of co-opted members
Nellore: Mayor Abdul Azeez said that they would request the government to order for a vigilance enquiry on the irregularities in the construction of Summer Storage Tank in Nellore while reacting to the concern expressed by members on the poor quality of works in the SS tank during council meeting held here on Monday. Much to the surprise of everyone a Telugu Desam member Kinnera Prasad has pulled up the mayor for his lengthy speech and also for not consulting them while finalising the agenda.
Taking cue from him, YSR Congress members also attacked the mayor over the agenda items as Prasad also rebuked the mayor. TD members came in support of the mayor when YSRC members mobbed before the podium on the agenda issue.
YSRC floor leader Roopkumar Yadav made some critical comments against the mayor. He asked him to learn how to organise the council meetings. He has also found fault with the mayor for not conducting election of co-opted and standing committee members.
He advised Mr Azeez to reconsider the decision to borrow loan from Hudco for underground drainage and water scheme while reminding that the corporation is not in a position to repay the loan.
Notwithstanding the attack on him, Mr Azeez maintained his cool throughout. He was seen appealing the members repeatedly to cool down and resume to their seats.
TD corporator and party spokesman Dr Z. Sivaprasad and TD member Vuchhi Bhuvaneswara Prasad called upon all the members to put their party affiliations aside and join them to develop Nellore city in all respects.
Earlier, the House observed two minutes’ silence to pay homage to former chief minister N. Janardhan Reddy and two former council members Samdhani Basha and Gandavaram Sethurami Reddy.
