Holy garlands ‘Andal Mala’, and other holy articles presented to Lord
Tirumala: As per the set traditions, devotees hailing from Srivilliputtur in Tamil Nadu presented special garlands made of ‘Tulasi’ and other sacred flowers to the Tirumala temple on Monday, a day ahead of the most important Garuda seva which is slated to be held on Monday.
Two families represented by R. Ramesh and S. Suresh along with 50-odd Tamil Nadu based devotees carried two special garlands in a colourful procession and presented them to Ramanuja Pedda Jeeyar Swamy in presence of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams EO M.G. Gopal and other TTD officials at the Jeeyar mutt at Tirumala on Monday.
Speaking to media persons, Tirumala Pedda Jeeyar Swamy said the presentation of the garlands on behalf of the ‘Goda Devi’ temple to Lord Venkateswara a day ahead of the ‘Garuda’ seva was part of the holy dictum set by Saint Sri Ramanujacharya.
The Jeeyar added that as per the set procedures, the holy garlands ‘Andal Mala’, and other holy articles presented by the Srivilliputtur temple would be adorned to Lord Venkateswara on the eve of the Garuda seva on Tuesday night.
According to the legends, ‘Goda Devi’ is an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara, who considered her as a consort of Lord Venkateswara.
Meanwhile, a new set of nine special umbrellas to be used in the processions of the Lord was donated by Chennai based devotees on Monday, who have been donating the ‘special’ umbrellas for the last eight years.
