Adilabad: Forest and revenue officials conducted a joint survey in Narsapur (J) village in Utnoor mandal on Monday to identify revenue lands to compensate the 4,000 acres forest lands that were acquired for various purposes under the Pranahitha Chevella irrigation project in the district.
The project is being constructed on river Pranahitha at Thummidihetti in Kautala mandal.
A joint team of officials, led by Utnoor RDO Samudrala Ramchandraiah and Adilabad DFO Dr Sunil Hiremath, conducted survey.
According to forest officials, there are a total 7,000 acres on the outskirts of Narsapur (J) village. Of this, the forest department claimed rights on 1,664 acres while the remaining land is with the revenue department.
Now both the departments are assessing their lands.
That apart, other government lands in all the 52 mandals in the district are also being assessed so that that even those lands can be handed over to the forest department, if needed.
Speaking to this newspaper, Dr Sunil S. Hiremath said they were doing the exercise to identify the lands and dividing them between forest and revenue so that revenue department hand over the land to the forest department to compensate the land acquired for project.
