Movies only after 6 pm in Tamil Nadu
Chennai: All theatres in the state will shut down and call off all shows or screen films only after 6 pm Tuesday as the Tamil film industry shows its solidarity with former CM, J. Jayalalithaa convicted in a disproportionate assets case by a court in Bengaluru.
While film and television shootings in and around Chennai have been called off for the day , members of various bodies of the industry will go on a one- day silent fast before the Government Guest House, Chepauk from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday to demonstrate their anguish at the conviction of the AIADMK supremo in the 18-year-old case.
Speaking to reporters, Mr T.Siva, secretary, Tamil Film Producers Council, said the Tamil film industry was greatly upset at the conviction of Ms Jayalalithaa and film bodies like TFPC, Nadigar Sangham, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association, FEFSI, Tamil Nadu Film Distributors Federation, Tamil Nadu Exhibitors Federation, Television Producers and Artistes Federation and the PRO Union would participate in the day- long fast.
