Hyderabad: Accessories are an important part of daily dressing and no look is complete without jewellery. The current trend doing rounds is layered jewellery, be it necklaces or cuffs. College-going students sporting three different necklaces, with a funky pendant that stands out, is a common sight too.
“My personal favourites are the layered cuffs. The idea is to take different finishes and colours and materials, but try to stack them in such a way that they look like they belong to a single story. For example, wooden bangles mixed with solid gold cuffs and beaded bracelets would be a complete tribal dialogue. One could also follow a single colour, where one colour, say black, is the common factor ‘threading’ them together,” advices jewellery designer Suhani Pittie.
“For necklaces, mix lighter chains with heavier ones. You can also mix gold and silver. Try to wear contrasting but complimenting colours so that each necklace stands out,” she adds.
A simple outfit that helps the necklace stand out would be the best choice. “Any outfit will give you the right look, as long as it is simple. Focus should be only on the jewellery, and the clean base will help the jewellery stand out. Make sure the top or t-shirt has a high neckline, and that the lines of the jewellery used are clean,” says designer and stylist Rick Roy.
Suhani adds, “The look can be sported by people of any age group, but should be avoided at formal dos.”
