Leave HD in the dust
Hard on the heels of its global launch last month, to celebrate 30 years of Graphics and Gaming, AMD has brought a new graphics card — the Radeon R9 285 — to India, which measures up to the demand of extreme gaming by supporting up to 3.29 TFLOPS of compute performance.
The graphics card comes with 2 GB of GDDRS memory, API support for DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.3, and AMD’s proprietary Mantle API, for those who want to create and simulate their own games. With an engine clock speed of 918MHz, the graphics card features many innovations that encourage custom gaming, with low power consumption.
For gaming enthusiasts, AMD has also announced the “Never Settle: Space Edition”, the latest iteration of its game bundle promotion. Buyers of the graphics card stand to choose and get three games from a catalogue of 29 games including Alien: Isolation, and Star Citizen.
Though the asking price of Rs. 19,990 may seem slightly pricy for a graphics card, the fact that there are 3 engaging games thrown in as bounty makes it a reasonable buy.
We had a chance to experience the new card at the national launch in Goa-- and at first glance, the reduced latency in gaming experience, makes us believe that this AMD offering will become a favourite with game creators and players alike. But then they did ask users to 'leave HD in the dust!"
