We did not influence Jayalalithaa judgement: Karnataka Chief Minister

Siddaramaiah on Sunday warned rumour mongers that they will be punished severely

A day after Tamil nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was convicted in a Disproportionate Assets case by the Special CBI Court, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday warned rumour mongers that they will be punished severely if they try to spread false rumours about the state.

Speaking to reporters at the Vidhana Soudha here, Mr Siddaramaiah asserted that no state can influence any court or its judgement. "The judiciary in the country is independent and nobody can influence them. However, it is disturbing to note that some miscreants are spreading false rumours about the state's role in the special court's verdict which found Ms Jayalalitha guilty. Karnataka is no way connected with this case. Karantaka only provided required infrastructure to set up the special court here that's all," the CM explained.

In response to a question, hesaid the state government had already made security arrangement to protect Kanndigas living along the Tamil Nadu border. Border areas have been sealed by the state police.
