Vijayakanth petitions Governor on law & order
Chennai: Expressing concern over deterioration of law and order in the state following AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa’s conviction in the disproportionate assets case, leader of the Opposition and DMDK founder Vijayakanth on Sunday urged Governor K. Rosaiah to restore rule of law in the state.
“I requested the Governor to protect public properties and opposition parties. He assured us that he would take necessary action,” Mr Vijayakanth told reporters after presenting a memorandum to Mr Rosaiah at Raj Bhavan.
MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Sunday urged the state government to provide compensation for the damage caused to private properties by the angry AIADMK cadres who went on the rampage after the Bengaluru special court delivered its verdict.
