Vastu makes Rajiv Swagruha houses unpopular

Applicants claim, private builders are offering similar flats at a much cheaper rate
Hyderabad: The Rajiv Swagruha houses built by the government in the city’s periphery to provide affordable housing to middle class families are riddled with Vastu doshas as per the buyers, besides being out of reach for the people they are meant for.
There are more than 2,000 housing units that are ready to be occupied in the six projects of Rajiv Swagruha Corporation Ltd. at Gajularamaram, Bandlaguda, Pocharam, Bachupally, Bahadurpally and Jawaharnagar under GHMC limits. But the price appears to be the main constraint for the buyers.
Though targeted for low and middle-income groups, flats of all these projects cost about Rs 36 lakh for a 3 BHK apartment (1,475 sq. ft), Rs 33 lakh (1,350 sq. ft) and Rs 30.60 lakh for a 1,200 sq. ft flat.
Rajeshwar Singh, who was looking to buy a two-bedroom flat at Chandanagar said, “Many private builders are now offering 2 BHK flats at Gachibowli, Kompally and Bowenpally areas for Rs 25-29 lakh including car parking and other amenities. But similar flats at Rajiv Swagruha are not less than Rs 30 lakh.”
An official of APRSCL said, “Most private constructors and builders levy hidden charges. The prices we quote are inclusive of VAT, service tax, piped gas connections and the projects are developed in gated communities.”
Though authorities boast of amenities like underground cabling, generator back-up, Manjeera water supply etc., applicants point out that Vastu compliance was ignored.
As a result, except for a few east-facing flats, other flats under this scheme are yet to be occupied.
