Tirumala: To distribute some of His powers to the devotees, Lord Malayappa Swamy in the form of Yoga Narasimha Swamy entered the four Mada streets on the golden Simha Vahanam on the third day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara in the morning on Sunday. His peaceful face assured the devout that He would save the noble and fight against the evil.
According to mythology the Lord as King lion, an embodiment of extreme power and speed, a supreme powerful entity born to eliminate evil and save the righteous.
As per the legends, after killing Hiranyakasyapa - the demon king, Lord Narasimha assimilated divine powers of a very high magnitude. Such concentration of power in one entity posed a threat to the very existence of the entire Universe as there was the possibility of the Lord releasing His powers at a single go.
To save the Universe and mankind from such an eventuality, Lord Narasimha Swamy goes into Yoga Mudra.
According to the Vaikhanasa Agama, the Lord distributes his powers to the devotees who have a darshan of Him in the Yoga Mudra. Thousands of devotees went into a spiritual rapture on sighting the Lord in his magnificent form as the ‘Simha’ Vahanam procession inched through the four Mada streets encircling the Tirumala temple.
Later in the evening, Lord Malayappa Swamy majestically seated atop the dazzling ‘Mutyapu Pandiri Vahanam’ stepped out of the vahana mandapam amidst the recital of the Vedic hymns by the temple priests.
As the procession rolled down the four Mada streets, Lord Malayappa Swamy flanked by his two consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, seated atop, a pandal shaped golden carrier decorated with expensive and resplendent milky white pearls, conveyed the importance of peace, love and co-existence in the society. TTD officials and the district police administration ensured the third day festivities passed off smoothly.
