Watch out for fraud job mails

They send ‘perfect’ offer letters of IT companies

KOCHI: Fraud mails promising windfall gains by winning overseas lotteries or heirs of multi-millionaires looking for trustworthy persons for parking their funds are now well known. Another fraud mail currently spreading offer jobs in major IT companies in the country.

A job aspirant had received a mail saying that she was selected by well known IT Company HCL Technologies Ltd offering a salary of Rs 28,000-Rs 95,000 per month which included HRA, DA and conveyance.

The only catch was that she was asked to deposit Rs 8,700 in bank account number as a refundable security as a confirmation that she would attend the final interview before the appointment. The mail also promised the company would pay for the conveyance and accommodation for appearing the interview.

The wordings and other details of the message is a perfect replica of offer letters received by job aspirants from well known companies except the refundable deposit of Rs 8,700, said Vipin Ravindranath, a Bengaluru-based IT consultant.

Some of the top IT companies including Infosys are facing such a problem, he said. “Youngsters are landing with offer letters to the premises these companies and only when the security refuses them entry they realize the fraud”, he said.

According to him most often youngsters from Kerala are the victims of such frauds. “Job seekers in Kerala should understand that none of the established companies ask for any deposit for attending an interview. If any such message is received then it should be treated as fraud and dismissed immediately”, he said.

Most companies are known for issuing advisories warning job seekers against such frauds, he added. The fraudsters often collect the profile of their potential victims from online job portals, he added.
