Chennai police book DMK chief Karunanidhi and his son Stalin
Chennai: The Chennai city police booked DMK president M Karunanidhi and his son and party treasurer M K Stalin along with 500 others on charges of attacking a group of AIADMK party workers near the residence of the DMK chief in Gopalapuram. The incident took place late on Saturday night after the special court in Bengaluru had convicted AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case.
The Royapettah police booked cases under IPC sections of rioting with deadly weapon and criminal intimidation based on a complaint filed by two AIADMK members named Ilangovan and Ganesan. The case was registered under IPC sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation).
