110 held during search op to check crime in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Continuing the drive to nab offenders of property and other crimes, Cyberabad Police conducted cordon-and-search operation in some areas in the early hours of Sunday and detained 110 suspects.
Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (L B Nagar Zone) P Viswa Prasad and Additional DCP Crimes G Janaki Sharmila, over 400 police personnel participated in the massive operation, aimed at prevention and detection of crime, in Nandanavanam and different areas under L B Nagar zone.
As many as 110 suspects, including two wanted in a theft case, a rowdy-sheeter, 16 ex-convicts, cell phone thieves and three women involved in theft were rounded up during the crackdown.
Besides, 56 bikes and 38 auto-rickshaws were seized for lack of documents, Prasad said, adding 20 quintals of PDS wheat, which was being diverted in a vehicle, were also seized during the drive.
"Some of these areas have become shelters for criminals and we were on the lookout for criminals during this operation," the senior police officer said.
Those who were rounded up were being examined and further action will be taken based on it, he said.
Different zones under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate have been carrying out massive cordon-and-search operations over the past few months to locate criminals and suspects wanted in different cases.
