Asian Games: Indian shooters bag silver in team event
Incheon: India bagged their second silver medal in the Asian Game in Incheon, South Korea after men’s shooting team finished second in 25m centre fire pistol event on Friday.
The Indian team comprising of Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar, Pemba Tamang and Gurpreet Singh scored 1740-68x and emerged behind China's gold medal winning team who shot 1742-56x. Hosts South Korea won bronze.
For India, Vijay Kumar shot 285-21x; 95, 94, 96 in precision and 100, 98, 96 in rapid. Tamang had a score of 288-22x (93, 99, 96 in precision and 99, 97, 97 in rapid). And Gurpreet Singh shot 292-25x (98, 99, 95 in precision and 95, 96, 97 in rapid).
While the trio did an excellent job in the team event, they could not repeat the feat in the individual event. While Tamang finishes 8 th, Gurpreet and Vijay Kumar came ninth and twelfth respectively.
Qatar's Oleg Engachev grabbed gold while Jin from China took silver and Bin Gai from Singapore won bronze.
