Shar to launch PSLV-C26 with IRNSS-1C satellite on board on October 9
Nellore: Satish Dhawan Space Centre is gearing up for the launch of PSLV-C26 with IRNSS-1C satellite on board on October 9. Shar director Dr M.Y.S. Prasad said the launch will take place from the first launching pad in Shar. He attributed the success of Mangalyaan to all the scientists of ISRO.
He said that the achievement is a great motivation to explore the outer space further. With regard to PSLV-C26, he said that three stages of the rocket have been assembled and the satellite, which was received from Bengaluru two weeks ago, will be placed in the fourth stage next week.
Meanwhile, first generation space scientist A. Sivadhanu Pillai recalled the efforts of late Satish Dhawan in establishing the space port in Sriharik-ota while addressing 97th birth anniversary of Satish Dhawan at Brahm-aprakash Hall in Shar on Thursday.
Taking part in the event as chief guest, he said that they have developed indigenous technology for space programmes after other countries refused to share the technology.
Earlier, he paid floral tributes to the statue of Satish Dhawan. Shar employees donated blood under the auspices of Red Cross on the occasion. Shar Associate director Seshagiri Rao, group director Vijaya Saradhy, scie-ntists Subba Rao, Ranganadhan, Murthy and controller J.V. Raja Reddy were present.
