Hold Allagadda bypoll, Election Commission told
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission of India to conduct elections to the Allagadda Assembly constituency in accordance with the law. A division bench comprising Chief Justice, Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar was dealing with a plea by Bhuma Nagi Reddy, MLA of YSR Congress seeking to declare the inaction of the EC in conducting by-election to Allagadda constituency as illegal.
Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy, wife Mr Nagi Reddy, was declared elected in the elections held on May 7, 2014, after her demise in a road accident. While granting the interim order to hold the elections as per rules, the bench said this will be subject to further orders.
HC: Status quo on trust panels Bill
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hydera-bad High Court on Thursday directed the Andhra Pradesh government to maintain status quo on implementation of AP Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act, 8 of 2014. The government has brought in the Act to seize the offices of all chairpersons and members the trust boards of all the temples including the TTD.
The bench directed that status quo be maintained till until further orders. Pleas against TS, AP admitted Justice Nooty Ramamo-hana Rao of the High court at Hyderabad on Thursday admitted two writ petitions challenging the decision of the Telangana and AP governments asking the distilleries in the state of Telangana to install the required hardware and software in their units for affixation of Hologr-aphic Excise Adhesive Labels on liquor bottles.
The Association of Liquor and Beer Suppliers moved the High Court challenging the decision of the AP and Telangana governments. While admitting the pleas, the judge issued notices to both the governments directing them to respond. Justice Ramamohana Rao also admitted a plea by T. Mohan Reddy questioning the new sand policy introduced by the AP government.
